Ted and Patrick Woods, Nildottie, SA
Ted Woods and son, Patrick Woods, are Almondco grower members based in Nieldotte, SA. The Woods’ property holds a special place in the history of Almondco (previously known as the Almond Cooperative) and the almond industry here in Australia. This orchard was the first property established as the industry expanded eastwards towards the Riverland, from it’s humble origins in Marion and then Willunga. Ted provides some historical insight into the early days of the Almond Cooperative and his family’s journey from the Southern Vales of Adelaide to the Mid Murray, in pursuit of his quest to grow almonds. This historic Nieldotte orchard is one of the oldest commercial plantations in Australia, still producing after 50 + seasons. If these trees could talk! Thanks Ted and Patrick for sharing!
