ADEY CLOCKS UP 45 Years

The reason why Almondco has grown to become one of the most successful horticultural cooperatives over our 75 year journey is because of our people.
Adey Nickolai started working on the Lyrup hulling and shelling facility when it was established by the Mariani family in 1973. Through four sets of owners of the facility, Adey has endured and is now recognised as one of the foremost authorities on almond hulling and shelling equipment in Australia.
One of the key planks in the high-quality product Almondco produces, is our own hulling and shelling process. Adey and the team at Lyrup have consistently produced out-turns that have been above industry standards.
During the recent commissioning of our new hulling and shelling plant at Hanwood, the experience and knowledge of Adey has been pivotal in ensuring that the facility replicates the same high-quality results achieved at Lyrup. Adey told his fellow workers that he had always enjoyed working at Lyrup and tinker with machinery. “When I first started the machinery could turn out about half a tonne an hour,” he said. “We have come a long way over the years and it has been great to be involved.” Adey said he had no intention to retiring just yet and was looking forward to the 2019 season.
Thank you Adey and congratulation’s on your 45 years of service! Fantastic work!
